Produced in association with WWF (The World Wildlife Fund for Nature) Extinction Sucks is the first ever commissioned natural history series created for the internet, and one of the first designed to be viewed on the iPhone.

The Extinction Sucks TV Series is designed to help bridge the gap between humans and endangered animals and open people’s hearts to efforts that will ensure their protection. Each episode allows the viewer an intimate look into the life and struggles of endangered animals.

The Extinction Sucks TV series has been broadcast on over 16 channels around the world, including Sanoma Television -Finland, Origo Channel – Hungary, Factoria de Canales – Spain, Namibian Broadcasting Channel – South Africa, MCD TV Turkey, Horizon Film – Turkey, Apple TV, High Fidelity TV, Blue Ant Media – Canada, BesTV – China, Thomas Cook Inflight Travel Channel – Dublin, Rwanda Air, Wuhan Yuanlai Educational Channel China, Elta TV – Taiwan.

Extinction Sucks follows the real-life adventures of two Australian girls as they raise money for endangered animals around the world with a series of crazy fun-filled fund-raising events. The girls buy specialised equipment for wildlife sanctuaries battling to save species threatened by habitat destruction, human encroachment, and poaching.

Shot by Josh Whitehead and produced by Off The Fence Amsterdam, the series is inspiring, fun and aimed at a new generation of viewers, more MTV than BBC; Instead of preaching doom-mongering stats, Extinction Sucks has a different approach. It’s not about suits or summits. It’s about taking charge and taking action – and having loads of fun on the way!

While Aleisha Caruso and Ashleigh Young see the plight of endangered species as a problem of the utmost urgency, their methods of bringing attention to it are, shall we say, a tad unorthodox and hilarious.

Whether it means calling attention to the cause by dancing around in gorilla costumes, holding a rhino rock concert on a air strip or raising funds to release an Andean bear cub back into the wilds of South America by entering a Afro-Caribbean Dance Contest the Extinction Sucks team is out to motivate youth to take action to preserve our precious animal friends facing extinction. The series harnesses the social networking potential inherent on the Web to spread the word and the content makes fun, ‘feel good’ TV’.
